Similar to rest (check out the previous lesson), sleep is a very important factor for living out your Energy Type correctly as a Projector. Sleep should be sacred to you.

It is recommended that you get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. Having an early bedtime and good sleep hygiene can help you tune into the recharging sleep that you need.

Even if "Uber productivity gurus" want to tell you that 5 hours of sleep is enough, be certain they are not Projectors, and if in the rare case, they should be, they will definitely not be able to hold onto that routine for too long before they burn out. This is one of the things why homogenization plays such an important role in the quest to live out your Energy Type. 

Find the joy in sleep. 

If you can get 10 hours of sleep, that is great as well. Your nervous system will thank you. Being able to reset your body to homeostasis after a long day of absorbing other people's energies is a gift to you. Your Projector Energy.

Power Nap

A great way to honor your energy wave is to grant yourself the permission to take naps, or little breaks where you just sit in silence for 5 to 20 minutes.

Because you are so sensitive to your environment, sleep allows you to empty out the conditioning you might have absorbed during the day and come back into a restorative state, leaving you feeling fresh like a blank canvas. This will allow you to tap into your authenticity daily.

A controversial statement by Ra Uru Hu (the founder of Human Design) is the recommendation that especially Projectors should sleep alone. This instruction is in place to protect the frequency of your authentic source code.

During sleep, your body goes through a process of regeneration. If you sleep next to a Generator or a Manifesting Generator, your subtle body will be subjected to constant Sacral energy that won't allow you to rest properly. Not defining your relationship through stereotypical behavior through co-sleeping or sharing a bed can be a new point of view through which to look at this recommendation.

It can be fun and adventurous to challenge the norm about how we define a "solid" relationship. Maybe it brings a contemporary notion into your communion to have your own bedroom if this is something that appeals to you. Create conscious non-threatening communication with your partner expressing your wishes/needs to experiment and try this out. Maybe this can be beneficial for both of you.

If this is something that you are not open to, that is totally okay too.

For a good night's sleep, it is important that you go to bed BEFORE you are tired. I know, this might sound counterintuitive.

Important Note

The Projector goes through a 30-minutes to one-hour-long unwinding phase before being ready to sleep. During this phase, the open energy center has a chance to empty out and recalibrate before the sleep swoops in to restore.
